Amelia Lara

El Hotel es dirigido por Amelia Lara Tamburrino quien durante seis años fue consejera cultural de la Embajada de México en Roma.

Ocupó cargos relevantes en el escenario cultural de México: fue director del Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia en Puebla y durante muchos años se dirigió al Castillo de Chapultepec en la Ciudad de México. En Oaxaca, coordinó el Centro Cultural Santo Domingo durante 17 años.

"Amelia, mexicana universal, ha vivido los últimos 27 años en la ciudad de Oaxaca, donde logró hacer realidad un sueño de vida: abrir un hotel. Así, hace ya 20 años, nació La Casona de Tita que, desde su apertura, ha sido cuidadosamente custodiada por ella, conocida en Oaxaca como la anfitriona por antonomasia".

A Small Gem Before meeting up with a tour group, my wife and I stayed one night at this gem of a small hotel. Beautifully appointed and centrally located, this hotel is within easy walking distance of all the sights of Central Oaxaca city. Marisela is a wonderful and helpful host.

A Special Place Having just spent eight nights at La Casona de Tita, I can only write a rave review. This boutique hotel is special! Six lovely rooms surround a charming courtyard. It is here where the sumptuous breakfasts are served. What really separates this hotel from others in the intimacy and quiet of the environment.and the complete attentiveness of the staff. By the time we left we felt like we were leaving close friends. The location is excellent.

A wonderful 4 nights! We had a wonderful four night stay at the Hotel Casona de Tita a week ago. The hotel is a lovely oasis from what has become a bustling city. The hotel is centrally located, and we were able to easily walk everywhere in this beautiful city and enjoyed fantastic food everywhere. Our room, number 5, was spacious, clean, and well appointed. The bathroom was also large with a good size shower and plenty of hot water. We enjoyed a plentiful, delicious breakfast every morning (thank you, Gabriel!), with many choices. A must is the Oaxacan hot chocolate! Mari, the manager, was the best! She was so helpful, and she and Manuel (also wonderful!) helped us make reservations at all our restaurants, and gave us advice on places to visit. We were sad to leave this special hotel, and hope to return sooner than later.

La mejor opción para alojarse en Oaxaca Si de por sí Oaxaca es una ciudad maravillosa y espectacular, alojarse en La Casona de Tita fue todo un acierto. Amazing stay at La Casona De Tita La Casona de Tita is a stunning boutique hotel, where we spent three nights in November. It's in a great location: an easy, downhill walk into the centre of Oaxaca with all its shopping, bar and restaurant action, but the neighbourhood (and the thick colonial walls) means that it is still very quiet at night. There are only a handful of rooms, all set around a beautiful and tranquil courtyard with plants, where they serve delicious, freshly cooked breakfasts each morning. The rooms have very high ceilings and are decorated with a tasteful selection of contemporary art and traditional furniture. The bathroom was modern and very clean, and the beds were extremely comfortable. Best of all were the staff and the service they provided. All the staff were all very friendly and welcoming, willing to help with anything to improve your stay in Oaxaca. La Casona de Tita hotel was really the highlight of our two weeks in Mexico and when we return to Oaxaca we will have no hesitation about booking it again. Highest recommendation!

A lovely stay in Oaxaca My husband and I stayed in room 4 of this lovely small hotel. The room was large, with very comfortable beds, a large bathroom, and a great shower. The hotel is very quiet at night, and we enjoyed the neighborhood. There are many interesting things to see and do within easy walking distance. The breakfasts are delicious and are served in a lovely courtyard. We particularly enjoyed having cafe latte each morning, along with a large number of breakfast choices. Above all, the staff is so very helpful and attentive, that they make your stay such a delightful one. Thanks so much to Jesus, Karen, Isabel, and all the rest of the staff for helping us with reservations, tours, arranging for cabs, and recommendations.

Awesome All Around We stayed at Casona for 5 days and the whole time was fantastic. The location is ideal for exploring central Oaxaca by foot and it’s quiet at night. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. María, Gabriel and Carin were so helpful throughout our stay. The recommendations they mad e for tours and restaurants for us as first time visitors were spot on. The hotel is clean, modern and spacious. Decent WiFi and good air conditioning. Highly recommend

First time at Hotel La Casona de Tita We had previously stayed at another hotel in Oaxaca, closer to the night 'action.' But last year the noise kept us up all night. This year we tried La Casona de Tita, and were glad we did. We enjoyed the intimacy of this hotel with only six units. We were always able to have a good night's sleep. The complete morning breakfast (not continental) was great as we didn't have to leave the premises before starting our day.

Wonderful tranquil boutique hotel We just returned from 3 days at La Casona de Tita. Wonderful boutique hotel set in a colonial home. The 6 rooms are big and decorated in great taste - sparse, hacienda style, thick stone walls, comfortable bed, strong AC. They are located around a beautiful and tranquil courtyard where a delicious breakfast is served. The location was perfect - a couple of blocks from all the action but completely quiet and peaceful at night. The staff was outstanding, so nice and accommodating. Mary, Karen, Gabriel and the others were very friendly and catered to our every need with a smile. We highly recommend Casona de Tita and plan on staying with them again on our next trip to Oaxaca.
